How to Ride a Motorcycle in Hot Weather
Riding a motorcycle in hot weather can bring some unexpected risks. Sunburn, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke are all concerns when temperatures get high, and they can seriously impede your ability to ride safely. For tips on how to ride your motorcycle on a hot summer’s day, check out the article below.
Water
The best way to avoid the risk of heat stroke or exhaustion is to stay hydrated. However, that doesn’t mean downing a large amount of water and assuming you’re good for the rest of the day. While you’re out in the hot sun, you’ll need to drink regularly, so be sure to bring along a large bottle of water on the ride. We also recommend having a sports drink at some point during the day, to ensure your electrolytes don’t get too low.
Rest
If you’re planning to ride all day—whether that’s on the open road or to run errands around town—you’ll need to rest frequently to ensure you don’t overexert yourself. We recommend taking a short 20-minute break in the shade every hour or hour and a half to avoid overheating.
