Keeping your motorcycle shiny and spotless is something you may already be accustomed to. Regular washes remove visible dirt, but what happens to the germs and bacteria not visible to the eye? Disinfecting your motorcycle and gear should be frequently done even though it may appear that it’s clean.

Every rider should deep clean their motorcycle and gear to help stop the spreading of any bacteria, which is why we created the following guide to disinfect your motorcycle and riding gear. Your Motorcycle

You can start the disinfection process of your motorcycle by giving your motorcycle a good soap wash, making sure you get all surface areas to get scrubbed and dry-cleaned thoroughly.

After your motorcycle is dirt-free, grab your disinfectant cleaner and start by targeting frequently touched areas such as the handlebars and in some cases the touch screen. It is important to use products powerful enough to eliminate germs, but safe enough that it does not damage or fade materials. Reading your owner’s manual to know what and what not to use is a great idea before applying products to your bike.

Your Motorcycle Gear

It’s highly possible that your motorcycle gear also needs disinfecting. Start with your helmet. If it has removable pads, taking them off is a good idea before giving them a good wash. After it dries, proceed with spraying or rubbing the disinfectant product thoroughly. Remember to use compatible products that won’t dull your helmet’s paint.

Having multiple pairs of gloves is helpful. That way you can use one when you’re out for a ride while the others are getting a wash or waiting to do so. This small, and sometimes unassuming, piece of gear acts as great protection against germs since they do most of the surface touching.
